Fairhaven Shakedown Cruise
We did a day trip yesterday, on the road at 2:00 a.m. back home late. A little bumpy when we started but it settled down mid morning. Fishing was not fast and furious but just good enough to keep you going. We marked an occasional bait pod and fish but not a lot. Temperature was great, we ran the riggers down 85 over 100-120 most of the day in 44-47 degree water. Wire diver on 2.5 out 240 with a 10" BTI meat rig and MC Rocket took the first fish, a 15 lb King. A Brown came next on 8 color lead with a Bob Fuller King of Sting spoon. A Steelhead was next on a rigger parked at 55 over 100, saw him come in on the graph but I can't remember what it hit. 450' copper with a red dodger and green peanut fly fired next, came unbuttoned after a screaming run! Moved out a little deeper and marked some nice fish down 120 over 140, dropped one rigger to 120 and fish on followed immediately by another! 15 and 16 lb Kings on a Savant Crusher spoon. A nasty looking storm was approaching so we decided to head back to the launch and pack it up. We had a great time and can't wait to get back out there!

Hello Madsierra,
A friend in Fairhaven said it is slowing down on the Canadian side, hopefully that means they are moving our way. We were planning on going to Oswego but with Harbor Fest going on I thought the launch and parking was going to be tough. Good luck out there!

Spoke with Mr Hay today at 307 said it was a great time. Mike was depressed though as jeff did not have any peanut flies
I will be out for the Fall derby.

That is funny Scott! Mike just asked me if Kings would hit that little peanut fly and a second later that 450 fired! We'd like to hook up with you out there some weekend. Good luck.

Pretty damn good results and report for a 1 day ONT trip.... Nice work!
Can't wait to get back to Fairhaven. Even though it was slow earlier in the spring, I still got by personal best Brown... So it was very memorable.
