Work has kept me from the water, so my first wet line of 2013 will be on Lake Champlain.
Scrambled for new trailer tires today, unbelievably found some. First shakedown of the boat after that, and a final test of my new Moor Subtroll, though apparently the wacky weather this year may make my dowriggers unecessary for Salmon...maybe necessary for Lakers? It was good to jump a few wakes and feel the smooth hum of full throttle. My back-up manual bilge pump rotted out and will need to be replaced, but the boat systems check out...except for the light on my compass...flashlight will have to do. No fishing today, though...still not enough time.
Spoons (Honeybees & Suttons) lovingly placed in their new foam hangers purchased last year from Dockside. Hopefully still enough room for some Crazy Ivans that I plan to check out. Spoon blanks and lure tape ready to roll. Dug out some old standby's that nobody ever talks about anymore, used to be THE trout lures. Maybe enough time to tie some streamer flies, but not worried if there isn't. New leadline to replace the rotting version formerly spooled on my reels. New mono & flouro leader spools for the same reason.
Charts found, studied and marked. Bulwagga Bay sounds interesting, maybe the boat traffic will calm down during the week...but doubt it. Death troll may need to be tried just to say it was done, along with a marathon cribbage tournament to pass the time. Yanking for Lakers may need to be tried as well. And, of course, looking forward to a fish-fry of white perch.
Hoping to make lots of good posts, maybe meet some more of you fine folks.
