Welcome to the forum PopPop1960.
I am not a bass fisherman but I am sure many members would be glad to provide their knowledge.
Spring is only one month away.

Welcome to the forum, Pop Pop1960. The harvest season for both largemouth and smallmouth bass in Lake Champlain is 2nd Saturday in June through November 30. That said, I've found that the first week of June seems the best for post-spawn bass fishing around here (C&R only) but any time through mid-July sees good early-season activity

I agree with flyguy .... early June is your best bet. My son and I used to hit St A Bay and the islands around there a couple times a year around late May - early June. You can find some big bass in that timeframe and they are still shallow around the bedding grounds. Lots of fun. Good luck!

Once that water temp hits 50° pop hit the lake, focus on points and any gravel bars/ reefs around the river mouths. Cast floating jerk baits with a long twitch, pause, twitch, pause cadence... pause as in until your bait surfaces and the ripples its thrown are gone. This cold water tactic is a favorite type of fishing for me and produces the larger caliber fish I'm sure your after!
