Good morning all,
Trolling with salmon set up east of savage island and ladds point I have been catching white bass at depths of 40 to 60 fow. Is any one else catching white bass? I didn’t not realize they are so plentiful in the inland sea.

White bass
Re: White bass
I think you may be referring to white perch ? If so then yes when they show up there is usually "alot" of them. I have eaten them in the past but I don't enjoy them as much as yellow perch. That said I have considered trying to keep some the next time I get into them and bleeding and icing them as soon as they are caught. I will see if that makes a difference in taste and share my results here. Good luck and tight lines, Jim
Re: White bass
Thanks for the reply joyride. I have very little experience with either white bass or perch. Most of my salmon fishing experience is from shelburne bay (red rocks) south to converse bay. The only reason i was thinking they may be white bass is due to the horizontal lines with one pronounced line running all the way to the tail. I was hoping to catch salmon, but catching anything is fun.

Re: White bass
Hello again Dano I just wanted to follow up and let you know I got out on the east side of Savage island today. They are indeed white perch out there and I did keep a few. I found that by bleeding the fish out and putting it on ice as soon as I caught them made a big difference in taste. That was tonight's dinner. I wasn't able to entice any salmon or browns to bite but oh well still came home dinner which is always nice.

Re: White bass
Thanks for the advice joyride. I am headed out this morning in hopes of salmon, but will enjoy the white perch too. I may try ladds point again, lots of bait fish and activity with the white perch
