Lucky Lady Strikes Again

My lucky fair weather mate and I decided to head down to Converse today despite the less than stellar bite in that area as of late. We got on the water in typical fair lady fair weather fashion at 9:30 and headed west out of Converse and set lines down 55’ and 2 slide divers back 160’ just north of Split Rock as we were marking plenty on the fish machine and within 2 minutes scored a whitefish on a rigger. Should be in the zone right? Nope, we continued south and across the front of Diamond without a twitch of a rod. As I turned back north we picked up 2 salmon smolts but nothing else so I made a quick move and reset on barren waters and started to zig and zag looking for life which we found an hour later,
GREASERS. LOTS of them! We boated a dozen or so and I kept adjusting my depth progressively higher to stay above them and SCORE! We picked up a 20” salmon and a 5-7# laker on a double hit and I spun around on my line and picked up another 22” salmon and dumped one about the same size at the boat. We had them dialed in now so I made one more pass before we had to come off the water and boated another 18-20” salmon which went back immediately and completed our awesome day.
The salmon bite was at 35’, mooselooks and speedy shiners running 2.7-3.2 SOG was the winning combination.
