I couldnt find any mates to fish with due to Easter. Decided to meet Matt from Reelax at the bridge. Got there and wind was blowing hard from the north. Matt was ahead of me and headed to Port Henry. I met a local guy at the bridge and he followed me to Port Henry. I asked him and he jumped in with me. I am lousy with names but I know he reads this forum. We went 3 for 4 with the first fish a nice fat largemouth. I got one nice salmon to bring home and gave it to my local egg supplier.
Hey bud, sorry I forgot your name but I never got the pic of the bass. Can you send it ? 802-343-3227
Thanks, John

Re: Port Henry
Now that is fishing passion right there. Drive to Champlain bridge solo on a windy day and pick up a new partner under the bridge and drag him to NY to launch in the shielded port. Then the wind twists out of the North East which was NOT part of the plan. We also bounced around like you guys all Morning and ended up being able to pull in 15, all but one were salmon. 2 big fish of the day were not landed. One bent yozurri hook makes us all wonder that bent that woopinstick so hard around 1pm in the trench. I think Pat wants it to be a submerged log, but Sully and I think it was a brown with shoulders like an NFL line backer:)
Managed to bbq 3 courses of which all were top shelf. Hebrew national dogs, followed up with some NY strips that were very tender, closed out with Italian saugsage and sautéed peppers and onions. This menu was the only thing that kept us lines down till 3pm. By the end we were glad to be headed west instead of east to the Launch!
Good to fish next to you today John. Thanks for being a sister/safey boat in the blow. Big fish bite in that crap, ya just gotta land em:(
If all goes to well the next posts should be from the BIG-O as we are headed for Brown Country mid week:)
Thanks Pat, John, and Sully and the hearty mystery angler the unforgettable day!!!
Fish on!

Our mystery angler actually followed me to Port Henry and I asked him there if he wanted to jump in. He said......need any lures? I said just those purple ones you told me about. Great to have him and I know he reads the forum and we will find out.

Re: Port Henry
It was good to see you at the launch John, Saturday was not for the faint of heart and you were in it to win it!! Personally I have better luck with Champlain salmon with a good chop or in Saturday's case a 2'-3' roll and Matt kept Reelax on the troll line we needed to keep the fish coming over the rail like the pro that he is, not to mention his ability to keep her pointed in the right direction to keep the grill from blowing out in 25 mph wind. That alone is what separates the men from the boys
Given the conditions between the wind and water temps a count of 15 legal salmon is an excellent day in my book and was worth the drive down to check out new to me waters.
