Found a Tagged Atlantic Salmon? Please report it to UVM (Graham)

Post by graham_montague »

Hello Salmon Anglers,

We recently had an angler catch one of our tagged Atlantic Salmon with a transmitter (see pictures) and they reported it.

If you catch a tagged Atlantic Salmon, I'd greatly appreciate if you could:

Contact me directly (graham.montague@uvm.edu or 216-973-4183)
Measure fish's length and weight
The location where you caught the salmon
Take photos of:
-The transmitter/tag
-The incision site on the fish's belly

In return, I will share data about your specific fish's movement patterns and where it was originally tagged! In addition, I am asking for the tag back so I can reuse the tag to implant into additional Atlantic Salmon (these tags have a battery life of ~750 days).

This information is incredibly valuable for our research on salmon movement in Lake Champlain. If the fish is harvested, it would be very helpful for us to know that it was harvested so please contact me. Your participation helps us better understand the Atlantic Salmon in Lake Champlain.

Thank you for your support!
