Early steelhead
Not much to show for salmon, I can't bring any to the net...one felt and looked over 10 lbs, but that's a whole 'nother story...
In any case, after a day of swinging streamers and drifting nymphs with my fly rod, I picked up my, "back up" spinning rod and drifted out a Berkley powerbait egg I had leftover from last year for kicks. Third drift in, "wack wack wack!"...set the hook and turned the camera on!
Enjoy !

Re: Early steelhead
Pretty cool Matt. I was always wondering what the river looked like from the Burlington side of the Salmon hole. Always see people fishing from that side from the Hydro dam trap location. Noticed they trapped 40 salmon as of last Sunday on a visit down there. Seemed kind of low, but maybe the low conditions of the river may have contributed to that. That number they post is fish that have been captured multiple times.
Great stuff.
Don't remember reading if your Outdoor Journal "Pyne" show aired last Spring?

Re: Early steelhead
Thanks everyone. I'm working on landing a salmon so I can upload that as well.
I would say right around there. I was in a hurry to release it so I didn't get a measurement but judging from past experience I'd say 19-20". What it lacked in size it made up for in feistiness for sure. I'd like to get him again in a few years when he's bigger!riverrunner wrote:What were the numbers on that steely? Length around 20?

Love your GoPro reports. Looking forward to more this fall. Water seemed a little higher than I thought it would be. Maybe just the last couple days of rain? Keep after 'em

It went up but not as much as usual from fall rain. It's below average right now for october.plantstone wrote:Love your GoPro reports. Looking forward to more this fall. Water seemed a little higher than I thought it would be. Maybe just the last couple days of rain? Keep after 'em
