Started the day like everyone else, checking the weather

Decided to at least drive to Lake champlain and check things out

Launched from Otter Creek at daybreak and planned on looping from Thompsons to the mansion with the wind as my friend, but 2-3's just didn't look like fun fishing. But a good omen -- a 20"+ salmon or steelie rocketed out of the water, from on wave to another, in front of Thompsons! Awesome. Making the decision to motor over to NY, I cautiously crossed the broad lake. Whew... Calmer waters and a steady tailwind. Set up lines in Grogg and motored south. First rigger @ 40' w/ Fathead blades in Fathead colors trailing a stand by Stinger & cheater. Second rigger set at 24' with a CI Split Rock & HB Rainbow. Speeds 2.4 - 3. on GPS Rods down, and..fishing!
I started noticing bait right away. I'd seen a summer full of bait though....

. But, Good Omen, right! Then right around this water fall
I decided to loop around & Pop! 40' Rigger. Gone,.. I reeled in. Favorite stinger gone! Oops..an unsnapped swivel

But I had another one of those! Set back up, looped around. CI down 24' pops and two jumps on the surface and a 20" gone. 0 for 2 at this point. Reset that line and head south.
Pop! The HB Cheater fires @ 20'. Game on! I take time to start a video. The battery dies, and the fish is to the left at times, but give idea for the calm conditions. A healthy 22" 4lb+ in the net
I reset lines and head north to Grogg and start across towards Thompsons. 2/3rds across the 40' rigger fires. Holy smokes! 3 footers and fish on! Thought it was doubles on the salmon on that one, but a cisco on the cheater. ( One of a few ) Another in the net!
Surprised to not see ANY boats or hear any chatter.
Got a kick out of the fact I was catching pike in 5' of water over this field in the mouth of the otter creek in the spring.
