The 196 Fishmaster by Starcraft is the only aluminum production fishing boat in the industry that has the high back like my former Sea Nymph. It's 31" deep all around from the windshield back to the transom. It's 100" wide. The gas tank is in the middle of the boat not in the rear like some boats. It's fuel tank location is similar to the 19 ft Sea Nymph which allows superior handling in calm to rough water with the weight in the center like a keel on a sail boat. The length is 19 feet 9 inches. 3" shy of 20 feet. The boat dry is 1,435 lbs at the factory. Actual weight with 1/2 tank of fuel and all my gear is 2,800 lbs. with 150 hp 4 stroke Mercury not including the trailer. The new lightweight 150 hp Mercury 4 stroke is 37 lbs heavier than a similar two stroke Optimax by Mercury and the E-Tech. The new Mercury 150 hp 4 stroke is the lightest in it's class (4 stroke engines) in it's second year of production.

Our fuel burn for the week was 50 gallons or one tank of fuel covering 90 miles on plane at an average speed of 27 mph and 34 hours of trolling for 5 days. The tank holds 52 gallons. Fuel burn was .5 to .6 gallons per hour at 650 to 750 rpm trolling. My former 115 hp 4 stroke Mercury was at .2 and .3 gph at 700-800 rpms trolling for comparison. Relatively close. I am pretty happy with the overall fuel numbers and the performance of the 150 hp on this bigger wider deeper boat. I didn't want to under power the boat with a 115 hp motor. 44 mph top end with an aluminum 19P prop. Fast enough for me. Similar to the Sea Nymph with the original two stroke 115 hp tower of power motor at 44 mph. Apples to apples.

Great report Ron!
I keep saying one of these days I am goin to get out to the bar...but with Striper season on the same time line its a tough one! Boat looks great! I am running the new Low. elite 7 DSI this year & love it! The thing you guys dont have to deal with out there that we do is debris! I hit a piece of wood on my second to the last trip on the Hudson & ripped my transducer for my Fishhawk off! Mounting a new one on Wednesday!
Have to love the Mirage fly /mtn dew combo! That fly was a hit in my spread last year...was always running it along with a Live series Hammer Fly..THEY RULED!
First trip on Champ. on Saturday...seee how we make out...hope to see you out there!

Matt,

You guys are catching some nice fish down there at Kingston. Obie was showing me some of his monsters on his cell phone last week. Great stuff! I remember the debris 13 years ago down there. The Hudson can be messy at times in early May. Those Stripers are really awesome and trolling for them is a thrill on the river. It's one of the best fishing destinations in the East and close to home. Well done!
