Well Joe and I wanted a change of pace and the walleye on lake Champlain are better than they have been for decades.
We launched at 6pm from
Apple island and headed north on the sea to see if we could find a bugeye.
Deep divers 50 back off online boards used for a set of 4 spread. Fished 15-25 fow and found fish.
Lots of nice small mouths and pike..
Then the sunset and the graph exploded with fish. At 820pm a Rod fired and Joe jumped on it. Good fight and when the fish approached the boat it ran right up the starboard side!
In the dark I netted a fish I couldn’t even see and was happy to find our TGT species. I have trolled
Walleye many time son lake Champlain and have caught many walleye but have never gotten one when we were targeting them.
Bugs came out around 930pm and by 10pm they were thick so we pulled em and ran 10 miles back to the launch in the pitch black…
What an adventure. Grill never got heated up but the fishing was hot and heavy!
Fish on!

That’s great! I’ve been planning on targeting them this season, bought some deep diving sticks that are supposed to be pretty hot.
