Westport water on Monday.
Had the good fortune to fish with Dave Farmer on his 20’ SmokerCraft phantomangler out of point bay. We headed south in the heavy fog with about 50’ visibility till 930am. Found fish 50 down again over 150. Bit started slow but picked up to a fenzy one the sun poked thru the Fig around 10am.
Best of day was a rigger with a crazy Ivan Wonderbread down 50. The slide diver next to it fired right after so I thought they were together. My fish was big and running all over so we put the slide diver fish in the holder till we found our
PIG brown. This thing was almost round as a dinner plate. When it came up I yelled brown!
I haven’t gotten a brown like this in one 3 years. This fish was well over an
Solid 23” and between 7 and 8 lbs. quick pics and back he went. What shoulders!
Then Dave handled the other rod which turned out to be a nice 21” salmon.
We had laker, salmon and a nice brown. After getting 3 steelhead last time out we figured a grand slam was in the bag!!
Crazy Ivan was doing circles in the area hooking up like an addict in Burlington! We watched them net fish all morning. Didn’t matter where we were… by barber or all the way down on the point off Cole bay. What a blast.
With smoke and heat hitting the lake hard we decided to end it at noon.
Counter ended at 12… 1 laker, 10
Salmon and 1 FAT brownie.
Thanks for the ride Dave! That boat is fishy:)

Sounds like a great day! In Westport on Sunday afternoon Temperature was close to 100 feet down and unbelievably almost no fleas, even on the braid with Dipsys.
