Problems with PLine Floroucarbon

Trying out several different combos. Braid or lead core main lines with Floroucarbon leaders, 6ft-20ft. No problems, lays flat.
However on my spinning reels...100% PLine Floroucarbon (10 lb and 12 lb tests) it instantly tangles in mid-flight. Lure doesn't hit the water before there appears a triple figure 8 tangle mid air. New reels, filled to suggested limit 1/4" top of spool lip. Next I pulled off 50 ft. same thing, another 50 ft or more...same thing. Re-spooled both reels, one installing line same rotation as on spool out of the box., Next one in opposite rotation.

I understand and agree that bait casting reels with counters using down-riggers and the floro as leaders having no problems. Is that all this Floro is good for? Any ideas or suggestions. My wife likes to use the spinning rods out the side or straight line out stern without down riggers. Just learning and don't want to discourage my only Fishing Buddy. Ready to rip it off and install old-school Stren mono.

Mono has an advantage while trolling. Stretch!!! Hope this helps.

Fluorocarbon can have more memory than mono and typically is more stiff. You need to ensure you wind it in a spin caster with the proper rotation. See the hundreds of YouTube videos on this… I run all all Fluorocarbon on my rigger bait casters to reduce stretch for a better
Hook set with long setback…, BUT run mono on spin casters cause it is more limp and has less historiesus..

Thanks and yes.. I followed all you guy's advise and bought new Okuma "Cold Water" reels #CW303D plus several other older ones. I installed Pline Floroucarbon (100% pure and not just coated) as Leaders on all of them and no problems..works great. It's only on the Spinning Reels (Open bail) that the line goes crazy. I was just wondering if any of you guys ever used Floroucarbon on Spinning reels with success? Again using my thumb on spool while casting, reduce the amount of line, stripping it off and re-installing in reverse, Nothing. Just wondering. "Didn't want to throw the baby out with the bath water." LOL

I agree with Reelax...
I'd strip the floro off the spinning reel, fill it with good mono and add a floro leader with a good ball bearing barrel swivel.

You can always save the flourocarbon on your spinning reel by winding it on a bait caster for use.

The fluoro is new, and fluoro works well on spinning reels. Just let all of the line out behind the boat while trolling with nothing attached, and reel it back in to eliminate the twist! Matt was right, it was an installation error that can be corrected!

Thanks guys. Appreciate the advice. Got to thinking about why now in VT and not in AZ. Temperature of the plastic line get 90s days and cools off to 75/80 nights on the reels. So I ran out 100% of the fluoro across my back yard back and forth 5 ft off the grass in the sun and let it sit all day, then reeled it back on thru a wet cloth. The other reel I loaded with new mono that I let soak in a tub of warm water all day, and then loaded it thru a wet cloth. Next time out is the test.
No fleas in the N.E. Kingdom lakes thus far. Amen.

Flouro lines are typically stiff and are better for baitcasting reels than spinning reels. It is important to use a flouro line that is softer on a spinning reel. Seaguar InvisX and Berkeley 100% fluorocarbon would probably work better for you. Another option would be to use a braid main line and a flouro leader. Also consider that flouro sinks making it good fit bottom preventions. Mono and braid float which is good for presentation higher in the water column. How you plan to fish can impact what line to use.
