Hi....I'm coming out for my first Fathers Day Derby, although I've been on Champlain before outside of the Derby. I plan on using the launch under the Crown Point Bridge on the VT side. I'm having nightmares of 5,000 boats trying to launch on Champlain at all different launches and it being a Sh** Show at the launch as I'm waiting in a line of 25 trailers deep to launch my boat. Tell me its not going to be this bad......
Thanks for the info.

Re: Boat Ramp(s) during LCI Derby
That’s one of the reasons I don’t fish LCI weekend. Too commercialized. All you end up
Doing is paying a bunch of peoples full time salaries for them to rent out our resource…
Can’t even enjoy fishing that weekend cause it is the only weekend of combat fishing in lake Champlain all year. I don’t like combat fishin..
If you wanna park under bridge I would suggest arriving before 4 am:)
Good luck!

Re: Boat Ramp(s) during LCI Derby
I don't fish the LCi because I don't support it. The $$ isn't going back into the lake, so don't be fooled. Because my boat is in a slip, I frequently fish the same weekend without launch ramp issues (or derby fees). This year, I'm avoiding it entirely, again.

Are you headed north trolling? Or south? Where are you staying is their a better launch choice ?Marauders7 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2024 2:27 pm Hi....I'm coming out for my first Fathers Day Derby, although I've been on Champlain before outside of the Derby. Most likely heading north Bass Fishing, may go south a little, but I hate fishing water that looks like coffee milk. Our bass club launches out of Ti every fall, but my partner and I head north for clearer water. I'll probably fish from the bridge to Point Bay Marina. I"m staying within a mile of the bridge.
BTW guys thanks for the responses.

If it’s windy launching in these spots will get to to protected water much better than the bridge launch…
If I were you I would call point bay marina and see what they can do for you. That is the epicenter of some great bass fishin. Mouth of otter creek is a good spot to start.
Good luck and let us know how you make out.
Hope this helps

You could also run across the bridge to port Henry State launch yes more boats launch from there but two boat can launch at a time an very large parking lot would only add 15 mins to your ride. I myself will be launching out of crown point town launch an running north only adds 5 mins run time to the bridge from there an my other boat will be there on the dock for catfishing at night.

I also don't fish LCI anymore as it is such a sh**t show........ Matt, if I wasn't going to visit my Dad, it would be a good time to try some NE kingdom lakes.

The interesting statistic there is only 7% coldwater fisherman fishing the LCI with the remaining being warm water anglers out of 5,500 participants. Warm water fisherman are paying out the cold water prize structure from their participation. If it became a warm derby (only) the coldwater anglers would hardly be missed!

I suspect the cold water fishing community still remembers when Effie broke the LCI record with a 11.42lb salmon and didn't win the "bonus $30k break the record prize."digitroll (ron) wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2024 11:27 am The interesting statistic there is only 7% coldwater fisherman fishing the LCI with the remaining being warm water anglers out of 5,500 participants. By My calc's there are much more cold water fishermen in the Rotary than the LCI now.
If the Datillio's was still going it could be the biggest cold water derby on the lake!! It was always the best value and fun of any derby each year!
