Hi all,
Having used a few different units and mapping combos over the years, curious what’s the best out there for Lake Champlain currently? We’ve had mixed results with the following:
- Lowrance Elite with Navionics+
- Garmin ECHOMAP with LakeVu
- Humminbird Helix with base maps
Garmin seemed to be the most frustrating with GPS not matching known reefs/humps.
Anyone love their mapping?

Using Lowrance HDS with Navionics
For walleye I also use a Simrad Go.

Thanks for the reply Gerry! On the GO are you using the base map, C-Maps or Nav+? Seems like 90% or Simrad GOs are loaded with C-Map.

I don’t think you can beat the navionics detail, especially if your using the most updated maps they have. I have been running the navionics boating app for 10 years on an iPad and it is hands down better than my simrad or Lowrance for using it for Charts. I love the color codeing!

I use the C-Map on the Simrad. Since I use the Lowrance HDS as my primary mapping screen, the Simrad is mostly used for side and bottom scan.
As Reelax mentioned, many of us use the Navionics app on the iPad. It's fairly cheap and pretty accurate.

Navionics on the app and on a card is absolutely the same except that on the app you can use the color shading that you can't get on the card, but the data is the same.
There is the new Lowrance C-Map RevealX that also offer the color shading but can't say anything on the precision because I didn't use it.

Thanks for the responses Andre and Reelax! Love the Navionics app, sounds like it’s still the best. There are so many different mapping products, appreciate the input.
