A friend of mine checked yesterday and reported that Converse bay is frozen over and no evidence of any recent attempts to launch a boat. He said that the small launch ramp at the Shelburne town beach had very little ice and might be useable.

Thanks Jon!

Hopefully the 17-28mph south wind will take care of Converse today.....maybe it will be open for sat.

I checked it at noon today.. there's still about a hundred yards of ice out from the ramp. I don't know how thick it is. There was a pretty good wind blowing in from the west so maybe it will break up. The ramp and parking lot are plowed and OK, just the ice is the problem. Roads are getting pretty mucky and soft.

Luke Poulin Called me today at 1:30 from Converse....."NO ICE Anywhere"

Ride to the Harbor and not a cube in sight North or South off the big dock.

I'll bet there may be some tomorrow morning though. Shan't be long though ....

Got a walk down Plank Rd Friday and Spotted a RED WING BLACKBIRD...I'd sooner believe him than a Woodchuck in Pennsylvania :D

Day before yesterday, there was no ice in Converse...

Last night at dark, there was about 50 yards in front of the ramp...
There was a young man from Nantucket...

Looking forward to March. At this point I am thinking an outing or two in March might be about it- then wait in April till I hear about 36F+ water somewhere.

As far as this weekend: Vermonters for the 2nd Amendment Rally is Saturday 12 noon to 2PM at the State House. This is in response to H.124 and H.125 which is aimed to keep you from possessing magazines you don't already own. It also has provisions to potentially take away the private individual's right and privilege to purchase a firearm from another private individual at a gun show without going through a FFL dealer and 4473 for a charge of $10 per transaction. Among other negatives....

Page one of the BILL AS INTRODUCED states in part, "This bill proposes a number of provisions related to firearms regulation."

Some of (the language in the bills as introduced) seems very well intentioned but has major problems with the Vermont Constitution and to an extent the US Constitution. Whether that is an ignorant oversight or done in spite of the knowledge of the error has yet to be fully determined- either way it warrants our attention.

Making yourself counted this saturday will be a valuable statement to all present as well as those watching from a distance. A reasonable voice from gun owners and non-owner citizens in support of our Constitutional rights needs to be heard. Being present = presenting a reasonable voice.

More importantly, in the means and ways of preserving the rights our forefathers intended we have an opportunity to bring about meaningful changes, greater effort, and the dramatic attention to things which will actually be effective in preventing gun violence nationwide.

I hope some of you can make it to the rally and be part the change that is needed.
