Hudson river stripers
Just checked the river temperature at Albany just under 42 degrees,
Haven't seen any docks go in yet, but it won't be long now ,
I half uncovered my boat yesterday, took some fishing gear off, and put some striper
Gear onboard, getting ready.

At my launch, water is stained, but I have seen it much worse. Tide is going out.

Temperature was up to 43.5, then the snow came. Dropped off to 40 degrees.
Tomorrow hopefully it starts back up, I plan to be on the river April 1. My boat is ready to go. Docks or no Docks on the river

Re: Hudson river stripers
I know very little about fishing for Stripers except what I heard from my dad about him fishing for them(Rockfish) on the Chesapeake growing up in Baltimore in the 40's before that fishery collapsed. What water temp/conditions are you waiting to see?

Re: Hudson river stripers
50 degrees, is when I find the herring and stripers here in the upper part of the Hudson.
There maybe some here earlier than that, but they don't bite for me.
Just checked the temperature it came up today 42.4 , it's looking good for opening day April 1

Won't be able to keep a striper like this
This year, throw him back.

Re: Hudson river stripers
You are right Finsntins,
I didn't check the regs., it is 18 to 28 ".
I apologize to everyone for this.
Please check the regs before hitting the water.
My whole point was that you can't keep a large striper anymore on the Hudson.
Hope everyone has their best season ever
And safe boating. RR.
