Lamoille River Lamprey Refuge
The fine environmentalist groups are at it again. They are pushing to create an Amphibian refuge in the lamoille river and end the lampricide treatments that occur there. The theory is that the lamricide can hurt some amphibians, so to ensure that we dont kill a dozen mud puppies, we will instead allow unfettered breeding of Sea Lamprey to kill 50 species of fish in lake champlain. Seems like a logical move to me I guess. Mud Puppies are after all a major contributor to state revenue with the Mud Puppy tourism industry. Guess its time to contact our legislators again. I can't find the story that ran this morning on VPR to post as a link.

This was their argument 20 years ago. I remember the quote from someone in the outdoor community," I guess when all the fish are gone, we can always eat mud puppy".
