Long thankful day

Launched out of converse Saturday morning and dropped lines at Thompson. Putterd around South of Thompson point taking runs into the shallower water towards Kingsland Bay and got fish in the boat on 5 consecutive runs. One rod captured two fish in the net at once thanks to the cheater. Nothing to big but fun reeling in. The bite shut down downcompletly for us around 11. Orange and copper was the favorite there. We decided to head down to fishville area around 1:30. Cause I haven't been down there all year and today was probably the last day fishing for the Gator. We hit about dozen fish. All salmon. The copper orange didn't catch a single fish. They hot lure down there was the rainbow and silver spoon running behind vertical flashers 10' 40-60 down in 125-145 feet of water.... The big story though was when we were motoring back to converse something broke on the lower unit and we had no more thrust. Propeller stopped spinning!!! It was about 4:15 and we were dead in the watwr being blown SE from diamond island. After a bit of trying to fix problem we new we were screwed. Thank God I knew Jeff Rosetti! He and Ken came from Burlington down to Charlotte and rescued us that eveing. We made it to the shallows South of the otter Creek and dropped anchor and waited. The rescue team reached us around 8:30 and towed us back to converse. I can't tell the world how greatful I was. It brought me to tears a bit when Jeff said yes he and Ken were on the way to help Very greatful for those good people out there doing great things.

Jeff & Ken being longtime Frostbiters know the danger associated with late season fishing. These fellows are the Best to drop whatever was going on and gear up to come and get you.

Be sure and thank them for their helping out when you see them at the ramp. Watching out for each other can keep our sport as safe as we can be.

Bad things can cascade quickly into disaster this time of year with weather changes.
Making sure that all systems are good and having proper safety gear before you leave the ramp is the best call.

WOW that was a long day.. Last we saw you was around 11am as you trolled south out of sight beyond diamond island... Jeff and Ken are great guys and heros of the day in this case.
My hat is off to you two for helping Gator in the time of need.... Having the right phone
numbers in a pinch is key to getting to safety, and this is a great example of that!

Great to see the fleet helping each other like this... We all know it's important, especially with 48deg water!

Some years ago we lost two fisherman down in the converse area this time of year so,don't think it can't happen. When the water is dangerously cold as it is now there is no margin for error so don't be fooling around with substandard gear and make sure others know where you are . If you decide to move some distance let someone know that as well . Be safe, it's getting cold out there.
