Slabbers

Post by Matt »

Hit the ice today in one of my girlfriends fathers secret spots, hammered the huge Perch for a few hours, even pulled a 4 lb Laker through the ice on my jigging rod with 4 lb test, what great fun!!

I had 3 perch over 13", and about 5-6 over 12". Rarely did we get a perch UNDER 8-9", it was insane!

Fished in 20-40 fow using bibets, and the Laker came on a Realistix Smelt rubber minnow that I've been using and having good luck with lately, including a few Pike and Pickeral on them in the Islands. Ice conditions were harsh, could almost drill a hole with our creepers rubbing on the ice, definitely won't be going there after tomorrow...had to scurry over a huge crack with over a foot of water on each side but it was worth it

Those things were filling the bellies of the larger perch I cleaned this week.

In pic #2, are those remnants of deer tracks on the ice?

Slabberville ended the other day before I could go back out, a crack opened even further, leaving our only access to our spot unavailable....it sucks!!!! Went out to the Bay today and walked well over 3 miles in search of fish...found less than a few dozen. Only thing we ended up with was a workout. Any suggestions on where to fish for a mix of Pike and Perch/Panfish this weekend? My girlfriend and I are trying to think of a place to go without traveling an hour from Winooski.

Went down to MCcuins the other day and we could not get on the ice at the access. Open water! There were a couple of guys out there but it was very sketchy at best.
