I'll reply to myself, there has been a abundance of small 1" to 2" smelt found in all trout, northerns, ciscos, and perch around the Port Henry area. No signs of the larger ones even when targeting. Caught only one trout this year with Alwifes in it. There all eating small smelt and bluegills for dinner in this neck of the woods. I'm looking for a channel bank with a smelt shool concentrated in 20 to 50 foot of water. Thicker than thieves preferabilly. Due to the unhappy hard water conditions around Port Henry we all are unable to get out to the channels for some good ole time action in my 35 year old shanty. Any help will be appreciated. thanks and gofisn! :)

Well years with no-poor ice we have seen fellows jigging from a boat but the best was when a couple guys had a pontoon boat with a fish shanty on top hooked to Splitrock and anchored on the far end. I bet they were getting a good price for their catch !

Earlier this season, pretty much all January caught alot
Slowed down now.
Usually does every year like this though.
Waterbury reservoir.
But I heard they starting to catch them up to Magog recently.
The population in lake Champlain is pretty small now unfortunately though.

Thanks Guys. I was hoping that there was a hidden bay, somewhere mid to southern Champlain, with someone filling a bucket !! Guess I will have to wait till next year. Maybe..
