Seems like a cool idea but how I can't imagine it's very accurate when you're on the lake holding the fish over some chop. Another thing you have to remember is that most of the people on this forum fish for salmonoids. That being said, I don't think many people will hang a fish by the mouth they intend to release which defeats the purpose of getting a quick length with that tool. For Bass and other toothy critters it may be a good investment. Just my 2c!

Forget it as the thing doesn't work. I did own one and it was a piece of junk!
The infrared measurement was all over the place and trying to get an accurate measurement was time consuming and your fish would die long before it happened. The fish grabbing jaws would not hold any kind of fish of any weight or strength if it wiggeled around. Then after owning it and having it in my boat for awhile... the scale would not zero out to properly weigh even a dead fish.
Save your money... mine was junk and fairly expensive.
