First Snow of the season Frostbite with New Haven Bill

Post by Surprise »

Bill and I took another first timer Jerry Beacham of New Haven out today despite the weather service promise of Hurricane winds and Heavy seas. I told him last nite that it would be and adventure.

Met Bill at the launch at 9:30 and we motored over to Steamill Point south of Barn Rock. I took the helm and Bill set the back with his "Program" of the day....well for that moment at least. Long lines and downriggers with sliders. We had fish on before the rods were set and Jerry had his first Frostbite salmon in the boat. Hey how hard is that?

Another spin around and a couple more. Hey are we staying here or are we going to Snakeden? Off we go with another program change. Up the shore to the den picking up a couple more. The den today was barren for us. Troll back south and time for lunch......Into Barn Rock beach the boat sitting in the Sun. Heat our Tomato soup with Orange and Basil, Grilled in the boat,Gorgonzola stuffed Turkey Burgers on Onion rolls topped with Sweet Red bell pepper Relish. All washed down with A bottle of Amber Woodchuck Cider.

Pain and Suffering..... MUMM, Good!

After lunch dropped the lines and had a fish before we made it out of the Harbor or all the lines out.

40 minute drill now ....troll across to Vermont and pick a laker on a longline out in the Ozone. a double on one rod at Mile point and another double Cisco on one rod and one on longline.

On the Trailer at Three.

8 Salmon none big, three ciscos, and a Laker

Beautiful Day, Lots of laughs and kidding, Good Food and fun .

Gotta work all next week. Keep at em for me. water temp 47.6 from top to 60 feet.

Sounds like a great time. I came up about 1:30 to clean the snow off my boat but didn't find any snow just the flies you left. Thanks for that. It sure looked nice out there.

You guys got it rough...real rough. I feel your pain.

Great stuff guys...fun to read, but I'm sure not nearly as fun as the adventure itself!
Catch and serve with lemon.

Hey Ken, I'm on Bills boat and he took a seat post and converted it to a Grill stand.

I think it's is a gas fired Coleman. You know Bill the Chef is thinking when he has a chair in the Galley

sitting in the sunshine Grilling. OK Now.

I'll post yesterdays Menu Recipes in the Recipe section.
