November 29 tour with Frostbite Newbee

Post by Surprise »

I had threatened to take Friend and Bass Fisherman Kate Mansfield out to experience some Cold water Frostbite fishing for some years. Well wouldn't you know when I called her for a trip she said yea. We launched from Redgate and headed south starting a big circle cruise down to Barbour Point and back up to Snake den and back to Redgate. A beautiful 54 degree day is what we got. Lots of laughs and a few fish with Kate getting and Landing All her fish. 4 salmon, 1 Laker, a cisco and finishing the day with a 19 inch Steelhead. Kate says" hey those buggers have a different fight in em" after it crossed the back of the boat twice. Oh well, on the way back in she says to me "maybe I'll have to get another boat" !

Nothing in a pattern today except all but the cisco was on longline. Fished riggers deep and shallow with and without blades. Three fish kept and killed had empty bellies.

Saw numbers of surface fish today along with the 23 inch salmon that we caught after seeing it splash.

Spoke with Supercab, Newhaven Bill, Ivan & Dad, Millard up from Florida, Hijac, Randy

Kate's slides are here .

Great to chat with you today on the squawk box. We had fish breaking the surface up north also.

It looks like it was a great day indeed!

Great report. Love those nice photos of fish and fun.

So, how do I run a fly in the prop wash? Length back? Split shot? Etc... Thx

Enjoy the balmy Dec days to come!
