As with mother nature its been a week of changing conditions. Started off last Sunday with temps down 40-45 ft from converse to split rock & wallons. Had a good bite of Mixed salmon & Lakers with a 4lb silver & 8 lb laker in the mix. Been running a little bling on one rigger with
Small green & glow verticals & a C.I. Fathead special taking Lakers & good ole rainbow speedy taking the silvers.
Wed we found good temp from barn rock to partridge on the Westport area. Silvers down 25 & Lakers on the slide diver out 180 with a rainbow honey bee. Hooked a beautiful steelie on a custom pink &
copper I made down 18. As they love to do this easy 5/6 chromer did a half dozen tail dances before coming unbuttoned:-(
Thursday the south Wind pushed the temp up higher & only good water off mile point. Picked up a 10 lb laker on a slidediver out 240 with a cop car needlefish....next turn the starboard rigger down 38 fires with a water melon speedy on it. I couple of quick up & down runs & before you know it the biggest silver we have ever hooked up is darting around the riggers. In the blink of an eye he is around a rigger cable & gone....no doubt an 8lb plus Salmon...nice to know a few of those still around!
Sat of LCI & the south wind has done us in & good by temp! A half dozen Lakers suspended & one shaker salmon is all we put in the boat. Bring on the thermocline!
Some pics from recent trips...
