Heavy Seas on the Big O this weekend 10/15 & 16

Post by Reel Delight (Walt) »

My son just told me that they are expecting 18 foot waves on Lake Ontario this weekend. So he and others at the USCG station are expecting bad things to happen.

If you were planning to fish the Big O this weekend, you might better make other plans.

Believe it or not Gerry but the seas on Lake Ontario can grow bigger and at this time of year it is fairly common. I would not really believed it myself but my son has been stationed at Oswego for the past few years and have heard some real horror stories about some of the rescues he has made there. Too many fisherman have left port to chase Salmon on a nice day with calm seas only to find themselves in a world of hurt a hour or two later.

I almost lost my son on one of those days last November when his 47 MLB capsized twice and he was severly and close to fatally injured.
