Guss, I'm amazed at your record keeping and organizational skills.
Whats the chance of seeing your logs broken down by lake?
I'd especially like to see your Champlain data.

Gus, MOST IMPRESSIVE!! I wish I had the discipline to record such data for both fishing and hunting!!! Like yourself I am sure I would be surprised at some of my deductions. Thanks for sharing.

There needs to be an APP for this for our smart phones!!!! If only I knew ANYTHING about computer software programming!!!! :(

Very Impressive Gus. I started out this season with the best of intentions, had my logbook in the boat, and I kept it up, until I started catching fish! As soon as the lake really turned on in june, I stopped recording everything, and forgot all about my log. I wish I had your dedication to it!

That's impressive, I wish I had the patience to record all of that kind of info. Maybe some year I'll have to start...when I get a boat that is, haha.

There is allot of really good info there. I have started to keep records before and ended up not following through this underscores the benefits. I have some Big Al's and Hotspots on the wall at the shop and in the tackle box the restoration project on my boat is finally almost done and I cant wait to try them. Thanks for sharing this is a great post. Ramel

Just thought I would add a follow up note here, may be more suited to a seperate thread? Anyway, thought it would be interesting to hear from some of you other guys who noticed any distinct patterns this year. Here's my thoughts!
1.) Top lure for me thoughout the year, by far, was a Fat Ivan, with a brass back, followed closely by fathead special (brass and chrome), copcar(usually brass with a purple stripe added), and a copper/orange speedy shiner.
2.) Though I did the great majority of my fishing out of Converse, I did spend some time on the IS this spring, and again, I noticed a stark contrast between the lures I caught fish on up north. Probably 80% of my fish on the IS this year came on a Stinger Blueberry Muffin, and an MP6 Mottled Green and white. I did not catch a single salmon out of Converse with either lure, though I did get some lakers with the MP6.

I sure do wish I had kept my logbook up to date so that I could compare the actual numbers, but these are the facts that I remember most about this season. So Far!

Although I only fished the Broad Lake on the couple of trip to Champlain this year the following were my best producers.

Image

Of these three pictured above the "Fat Ivan" was the winner on days with clear skies and sun followed by the "Sausage,Gravy,Biscuit" which produced for me in lower light situations.

This modified Hi-Tech was chewed on A LOT!!!!

I also ran Horizontal blades of Silver/Copper off the ball with Jeremy's Vertical Silver/Coppers.

That's all I got :D

Thanks for the follow up Gus...
I don't keep logs, but your 2011 season on Champlain compared to 2010 looks like mine would.
I did some quality fish but the numbers were down.
Thanks again.
