Morpion Barrer pics & video from L. Champlain F&W Cooperativ

Post by vtbass »

Brad Young, lead USFWS sea lamprey biologist, was on site as the last piece of the Morpion River sea lamprey barrier in Notre-Dame-de-Stanbridge, Quebec, was installed yesterday. He took these videos, and asked me to post them here so forum members can get an understanding of what went into this project.

This is the culmination of nearly 10 years of work, mostly by Brad, engaging in talks with the Province of Quebec and town officials to make this a reality, with huge help from Senator Leahy (VT-D) who appropriated Federal money for the Lake Champlain Fish & Wildlife Cooperative (VTDFW, NYDEC, USFWS) through the Great Lakes Fishery Commission.

If anyone has questions about this project, feel free to contact Brad Young at Bradley_Young@FWS.GOV

The first video is a photographic slideshow, annotated with information that hopefully will help people understand what's going on in each photo.
