Slow day on the Inland sea

The Bassbuddy crew launched at Apple Island this morning. Calm water, 62 degrees on the surface, misty fog and overcast skies. I hadn't fished in a couple days and was getting antsy.
We set up on the Cowbanks and set up riggers and slide divers. We marked a few fish in the 60-70 ft. range and a number of bait balls with no predator fish lurking nearby. Got into a bunch of white perch with multiple doubles. One smallmouth and one salmon about 15 " that went back to grow. We had no activity at the beach area where we nailed them last week. Most fish were west of Cedar island. We did have one good fish on that hit the slide diver, but it pulled off before we got a look at it.
The only explanation I can come up with is that last week I had Big Ben from Dockside on board and today I didn't. It's well known on the lake that he is a good luck omen. Better yet if you can get WFW on board, the fish become terrified and don't stand a chance.
But, a day on the water beats the crap out of working or twiddling thumbs at home.
Ernie brought home a nice mess of white perch for the kitchen.
