Another disapointing week-end

Post by Fishbone »

Fished all day saturday 11:00 til 18:30 .. Trolled from Winoosky River mouth out to Burlington. Trolled between 80 to 120 feet deep of water and had 4 rods in water 20', 30' 40' and 50' . Got 2 small perch & 1 decent Bass. Where are the the Rainbow, lake trout & salmon ???

Saw Bumpnrun at the Winnoosky ;)

It's my first year on lake Champlain.. I just can't beleive how hard it is to catch decent fishes on this lake.

Fishbone, is it you we saw out there yesterday (out in front of Winooski) and today (same place)? We saw someone with a boat like yours trolling parallel to the shoreline out deeper than us, and today we saw someone going in and away from the shore before we went over to Willsboro bay.
We were in the Sea Ray Cruiser if that was you.

Yesterday. It must of been us (me and my wife) ..but not today . We stayed north of Valcour Island and fished for couple hours too much sea weeds in the water.

We should say .."HI" to each other on the radio when we meet... Ch. 68

Vtfishinglady..can you put a picture of your boat ..so I recognize you on the water :)

Hi BumpNRun,
Was that you north of the reef? We saw someone there and waved as we went between the two reefs heading south? We didn't get any waves back (frown)...

Hi Dan,
another boat that looks like yours was around the same place but doing a lot of in-out to shore back and forth. Will see if I can find a pic of our boat.

If I was determined to catch Salmonids this time of year, I would fish nothing above 60 feet, but that is just me...
There was a young man from Nantucket...

Dan (Fishbone), how's that for a pic:
<<<<<<<<
Will just put it in my avatar... I know it's not a fishing boat, but it's what we have. Recognizable by the two black buoys up front. You'll never find us buzzing any fishing boats, we always give wide berth to them.

Thanks... we can troll down to <2mph against the wind and 2.4+with the wind. And then if we spool up both 300hp motors, we can go 50mph. Although, it does suck a bit of fuel. We get between 1.1 and 1.35 mpg on plane. Luckily while trolling on one motor, it runs pretty economically and unlike big two strokes, the motors can run all day at idle without an issue.

On vacation this summer I hired out a 35' Cabo on the pacific for some big game fishing. Now that's a boat I'd love, all the comforts of home, and fishing ready! A bit overkill for Champlain though.
