Solo Saturday Salmon

My first mate is away and I had planned on doing a bunch of yard work yesterday but when I went into my garage at 5 am to get my weed whacker my Mistress was sitting there taunting me. I SWEAR I heard her say take me fishing! Without hesitating I rounded up my mutts and put them in the house and off to the lake I went.
I got to the launch at 6:30 and it was a picture perfect morning. Almost too nice! I shoved off and ten minutes later was setting lines on marks on the fish machine and within 1/2 hour I boated a fat and healthy 18” salmon which I promptly released. I continued on my preferred troll line for this time of year and caught another 18”-20” salmon (again released) along with a juvie. By then it was 9:30 and I was watching a pontoon parade coming from the launch area so I decided to pull my lines and head in to avoid playing stupid games at the dock before it got too busy. Sure enough as I got closer there was a pontoon boat tied off on one side loading about 8 people and what looked like enough baggage to crowd an airline check in kiosk and there was a wave runner tied off to the other side. I waited patiently for six minutes (yes, I was keeping track of time) and finally hollered to them to move the damn wave runner which begot me 3-4 dumb looks but they got the message
The bite was at 40’ and they liked green and silver on divers. Another awesome day on the water all be it a short trip.
