LCI cool water smack down report
Friday morning we headed far north to change up are usual program of salmon/ lakers by morning and eyes by night, this year I pulled chaos out of the garage and stopped looking back at my riggers, weights and spoons on the tables thinking
How naked I feel leaving this gear at home!?! Tough decision for sure! Anyways ry and I landed at camp on north hero Friday morning. Spend the day on recon of the north, looking for weeds, bait and big fish, covered water and found some decent prospects. Saturday morning we started before sun came up trolling for walleye and pike, after a hour or so we started catching a few decent pike nothing to brag about but good for canning pickled pike so I kept em, around 830 Andy has a rod fire, and the board is buried underwater.. that’s a good fish ! After a good battle “thinking it’s a pike” up comes a big eye!! After she came in the net she went in the box and back at it, not long after I get a walleye in the net she goes!
Then pulled after pike come in, all decent but not big enuf ,
After a move and setup didn’t take long to get back on a decent pike bite, rods were firing constantly between pike and smallies, then Andy gets another buried board!
After a great battle a 36” 10.78lb pike in the box, set gear back and bam! Another giant! But what we thought was a nice walleye turned out to be a decent catfish! lol
After weight in Saturday morning we were sitting pretty good
On the board, Andy was 2nd walleye 2 pike! Pretty good start
Sunday morning team decision we stayed on the same program fight more bass and pike with not much walleye luck
They moved and we couldn’t find them again, Monday morning we stayed on the same water, temp was perfect, plenty of bait just couldn’t get em to bite. At 1030am we pulled out of the north and headed to otter creek for a last day hurrah . Dropped in the otter and had fish bite the rest of the day, they just we not derby winners. Great time tho for sure! Again my crew was awsome, great guys
My son Rylan, Andy white “River rat” and Kelly price
Congrats Andy on your 4th place walleye!! Fantastic job! I and Andy boated a nice brown !

BTW, don't throw away the bait coughed up by your bounty. One of those alwives fished out of our live well caught that 10# bowfin of the dock! And yes thank you Kelly for your hard years served dealing with the not so sportsman like characters that unfortunately are out there.

I do not exaggerate when I talk about fishing - I underestimate, like I say "just one more cast honey, then I'll come home" !

Amazing report and story. The weekend you guys had is what fishing is all about. Loved seeing them pics and talking as the action was on.
Can’t keep a wolverine off the fish once he gets the smell and Andy proved that all weekend.
Good to see Kelly getting retirement fish already:)
Happy Father’s Day guys!

Major Team effort as you guys know, cannot be done without a Captain. Pretty well felt rite being on the lake hearing the chatter. The scent doesn't ever go away...

Walleye Board fish in Rotary and now LCI?! Wolverine is killing it and figuring it out. I know the boat routine, and KUDOS to John for running a great boat on Chaos. A top team heading into last day for both Rotary and LCI shows puts you among the best! Crew should all be proud. Great diversity, and glad to see Ry in the mix again, though gators after early ice out aren't my game, I fish them just at ice out on fly when they are eating bleached "perchiscles", and again when the suckers spawn on the Middlebury river/Otter confluence, all on fly and all on 9 weights.

Good times!
More details about this canned pickled pike, please! Sounds like an outstanding Fall project for me.

I'm very excited to hear this Tunamas, this adds more weight to our overflowing strategies. Knowing you appreciate pike, gar, bats walleye, sheeps head perch and Bowfin makes this so much more interesting! I literally thought of you on the dock casting in "Reelax" ation for Bowfin. Scott says this... but had the choice to deviate! How the gears turn when in Rome. I always look ahead to our next great adventures together! Soon, hopefully very soon
