Today was my 4th time out fishing Robinson point to the Lamoile and back in that area. Usually I do well there for salmon. This year there has been nothing nada zilch. Very odd. Tried 40-80 FOW and all depths and colors as we were running 6 rods. Had down riggers, planars with various colors of lead core and flat line.
Went out to deeper water in the broad lake off colchester reef and started nailing lakers 40-50’ in 100-120 FOW on any spoons that were green.
Every laker we boated had at least 1 lamphey hit, many with 2-3 and got some live lampheys as well. So that’s not so good.
At least it was a nice day for once!

Good to hear your getting out Eric. Good salmon bite last week just outside of providence and stave on the 100-120 ft line if you don’t mind picking thru the lakers… bite was 25’ down

Re: Tough fishing outer bay
My first report so bare with me. Have done 4 outings out of Converse. First 2 were very slow, if 25 miles without a fish is slow, sure seemed it. Things picked up last two outings with a couple lakers and a couple small salmon and a few (too many) no one home releases. Not a lot of technical info as I only have a very old Hummingbird depth/fish finder. The lakers were at 35’ on riggers 50’ back and they liked green. Thanks again to all for the information.

Great report Mamu and you even got all the pictures right side up which is a challenge for guys like me!
I too have slow days and keep it simple with the electronics. Until I got a fish finder with SOG read out twenty years ago I would gauge my trolling speed by lure action alongside the boat before sending it back and the angle of my rigger cables if running deep, and to this day I still check it against my readout. Old school I guess, and anytime I mumble about buying a Fish Hawk my wife reminds me it would be a totally unfair advantage over the fish, perhaps to the point game wardens might even harass me
