March 8th on the Pond

Post by Surprise »

Ron winter and I started later on a beautiful cloudless day because the north wind at 7 was gusting to 18-20 at home and was predicted to drop in the morning.

We set up and hailed Relax already on post and he reported that he was in double numbers. Set out two inline planers, 1 rigger, and 2 color lead. 3 plus 1 spoon.

It was a slow pick and lots of debris that had blown south out of the Boquet. There was a charter out and a couple other boats that all wandered off as time went.

Breakfast was Kathy's coffee cake and tea.

Got to Lunch we broke out some Sloppy Joe made with some gifted ground elk.

After lunch we continued with the slow pick of 15-17 inchers and a couple lakers in the mix.

A couple kayakers launched at the beach and got into the circuit. Yapped a bit with Relax and they left.

Ron and I picked up a 21 and a nice 22 that provided some nice aerials.

Kept them for dinner fish and need to smoke one for Salmon dip for St. Patrick's Day

At the ramp there were two cars blocking it as the occupant women went swimming

I have been in the lake in march but it was a result of losing the ice under my feet

Great Day Out.

Nice report and pics Randy.
Glad the fish cooperated and gave you some action.
Nice lunch, I remembered a few years ago when all your fishing trips looked like a fancy restaurant on floats :D

It was nice to start the day after the rollers were slowing down after 9 am. Some Shoot-out qualifying salmon brought aboard today and great food! Thanks Randy! We will try again soon! Nice write up! A very enjoyable day!

What the hey is that Rebel-like lure doing in your salmon spread?

Used to use that lure for surface trolling for walleyes.

It is a Storm Jr. Ghost Pearl.

Gave away most all my walleye gear from 35Yrs ago.

For Early Spring water salmon we used to drag white Mooselooks with red dots with good success. Sooo I figured I'd give it a wash👍
