I was thinking of hitting the area and drag some flies if I have time this afternoon.
They should be there...

I was told the hatchery brook is kind of like shooting fish in a barrell, since there are so many fish hatched there, it's overloaded with fish going back to their spawning grounds. I've never been there so I wouldn't know, but friends of mine have said they've caught people snagging fish there. Do you guys think it should be C&R only? What's your thoughts?

I understand that you need to be in the lake to be legal. The brook itself is of limits. I recall being told this by a warden.

Ahh I see..it would make sense that you can't fish there, I bet there are TONS of fish that head up to that place. I'd like to hear more about this, anyone know more? Maybe I'll ask the worker at the Salmon Hole all about it Thursday when I have off work.

The brook itself is off limits and is posted.
Fishing in the lake near the brook outlet is allowed.

I have seen some real nice salmon and browns in that brook on the hatchery grounds over the years. That brook gets it's water from the outflow of the settling pond from the raceways inside.

We walked around at the Ed Weed hatchery this afternoon. There's some nice looking browns in the raceway. We didn't see any fish from the platform by the road. I think it's going to take a few more days for the fun to begin.
