Worked with Pat from Mistress and Fathead from Phantom to launch a 3 boat fleet out of Converse Friday morning to search for silver between the debris in the fog.
All 3 boats launched to heavy fog and lots
Of driftwood in places at 7am. Water was 43 deg top to over 120ft deep +. We setup 4 riggers and 2 slide divers at various depths and started the search.
The debris was basically lined up in current lines so you could avoid most of it and push thru it quickly when you did have to cross. The fish were active all day. Once we dialed in color and depth the bite was steady. About half salmon and a couple of them jumped multiple times during the battle to make it more fun.
Lake was flat all day, till we ran to Westport at 2pm to try a new zone. It paid off with 2 nice salmon as soon as we setup…. But we paid dearly at 4pm when we made the long run up the narrows back to converse in heavy and building seas. Buy the time we hit the washing machine betweeen thompsons and garden island there were 4 footers… Reelax ate it up like it was a bathtub:)
Very nautical run;)
Menu today was planned but the 20lb propane tank ran outta fuel at noon and kept the menu down to corn dogs. The marinated venison was aaved for today’s lunch:(
Wanna thank Da Commited and Fishdawg for putting in a 9hr and 29mile troll. We covered lots of water and found what we were looking for with marks to start on this week!
At the end of the day with the counter in double digits. We called it… All fish released to fight another day. We made it back to the launch after 4pm, with the parking lot empty just like it was at 645am when we arrived we loaded Reelax back on the trailer and called it a LONG day.
Fish on!

Way to tough it out, you've given me hope - looking at Wednesday
Re: Foggy Friday Flat calm fleet outta converse
It was nice to have a few boats out and about to talk to Matt! Thanks for the heads up for yesterday’s troll.
It seems my bud Marathon John is a laker magnet as that was the prevailing species over the rail for the day, we landed somewhere between 7-10 along with one 16” Salmon.
The fog was so thick at one point I lost land bearings and while we were battling a decent laker on a longline I managed to do almost a complete circle with the Mistress and you can guess what happened with the gear…..
We launched around 7:30 and came off the water around 2:00, great day and great to explore new waters to us!
Back out tomorrow in my familiar areas up north, will post if there is anything note worthy!

A usual, nice report.
That is a great way to end the year, spending the weekend on the water and having many tight lines to keep busy between meals.

Salmon are biting across the whole lake and it’s a great time to prospect for new spots…
Next report from the Nord…
Fish on!

Thanks for this inspiring report and all the great photos. You guys are all hard-core fisherman - nice job with the fog, debris, and waves. Sounds like it was not a day on the lake for the faint of heart !
I do not exaggerate when I talk about fishing - I underestimate, like I say "just one more cast honey, then I'll come home" !
Keep Calm and... Fish On !
