Went for a half day run on the IS and boated two salmon, both caught by the wife. Kept one 23” for the smoker for tonight. Both 40’ down in 120 fow, Crazy Ivans worked. As expected very little debris compared to broad lake and water was clear half mile north of the sand bar, surface temp 75. Some day I will figure out how attach video, this salmon was exceptionally acrobatic with six jumps total.

Sweet report and beautiful fish mistress had the family out to Southern IS until about noon and had no luck myself unfortunately, silvers been a hard one this year, tight lines

Nice fish! Been off the water due to debris since the flood. It sure look like it’s time to get back on it.

Here is link to youtube video I somehow managed to post. Had to create acct etc. Maybe there is hope! The fish jumped 3 or 4 times before I could grab my phone to record it. The wife is sensitive about sharing too much info so the island you see in the background is not the one you may think it is. Or is it??

Wow, nice fish!
Esad invited me out on his boat and we saw you in the same area.
He landed two undersized salmon and a couple perch, both salmon from the top 20' of water. One of them literally hit the main line while he was attaching the cheater before dropping the ball. It was 75 degrees at the surface and 55 was around 80 feet.
I missed the best hit of the day on a rigger at 50ft w a slide cheater when I botched smooth operation of his left handed reel.

Question for the group, is there a proven method to add a little friction to the Black's Downrigger Release Clip tensioning screw if its little loose or could be backing out while trolling? Are people marring threads or adding a little silicone?

Regarding releases I switched from Roemer to Blacks some years ago. Absolutely loved them but like yours they start to loosen up. Now I run knock offs from Amazon, 2 for $10. Can’t go wrong

My lucky lady usually picks the color and this day was pink Crazy Ivan. Not going to argue with her because this is her third 7# or so salmon of the season, overall numbers decent mostly on the west side. I guess my job is to drive the boat, run the camera AND net the fish. If she keeps it up I may need a mate!
