Heard tell of pike in Gilman Pond. Grabbed the canoe today and checked it out. Worked it for 4 hr., if you know the pond you know that's a real thorough going thru. Deepest water I found was only 8'. The weeds have 70% coverage. NOT a trophy pike destination but tons of little ones. Found what worked best was Texas rigged plastics "White" was the hot color. Maybe the most incredable thing I have ever seen on the water happened today. An Ospray who we had seen hanging out, swept in with no warning and tried to snag my buddies Sluggo. Fortunetly he missed his mark. All I could imagine was a screaming reel, canoe on plane and the shore line aproacing fast.
Pic of buddy with on of Gilan's monsters.

Gilman Pond is in Huntington. Just up the road from the fish and game club.

If I'm not mistaken, the body of water you're talking about is " Gillette pond " and is just south of the Chittenden county F&G club. My son used to fish it and catch big perch and pickerel and small northerns.
