5 Boat Fleet today out of Converse.
Reggie sanded the ramp and the Frostbiters did arrive! Surprise / Fathead / Instigator / one other solo guy. 28F at 10:00 am and 35F when the fleet packed it up at 3:00 pm. Perfect weather with lots of sunshine and 1 foot seas from the south today after 3 days of North wind. Lost a screamer just as we setup as it came unbuttoned after a torrid long run. Finished with 15 LT and 4/5 on salmon with Mikey and Chris. 10th trip out since 12/28.

Hey Ron,
Let me tag on here with our report and pictures of the day.
Today I met some of the Fleet today at Converse Bay at 10 AM for a warming day a sure turn from the days past of Cold & Windy..
Fat Head, Sea Bill & Crazy Ivan were on post as Diggitrol, Instigator and Surprise arrived, assembled with crews and launched for a beautiful day of fishing.
We all headed off to our chosen areas and started the runs.
Today I had friend John McClary as my partner and we set up to troll right from the launch.
At Cedar Point we had a double Laker take with John landing a Vermont Master Class 30 inch Laker on a bead chain Dodger Fly .
We continued all day with a steady take of Lakers on bead chain, mini disc, & 2 riggers at 40 with sliders.
The breakfast menu on Surprise was Blueberry scones & Earl Grey Tea Provided by John's Wife
We yacked with the Fleet and they were also on the bite with a few salmon in the mix.
As we got to lunch and more Lakers we had Celery Soup with popcorn shrimp and Brioche Roll
Some leftover Birthday Carrot Cake and Fruit Salad.
The turns and catching with mixed chatter on the radio made the day go by too quickly!
Fathead and crew.

This group was a good portion of the original fleet dating back before the first shootout in 2009 (charter members)

Re: 5 Boat Fleet today out of Converse.
I was given the chance to fish with a couple of Frostbite legends for the first time November, 23 1986 (Thanksgiving). Launched in Lewis Creek We fished tight to swifts and Kingsland's dragging streamer fly's on bead chains. Two riggers with copper and orange Flashkings. Flat calm sunny and cool, the perfect day. The boat was warm and they ate nova locks and drank a bottle of red wine. Great stories were told and the conversation on the radio were fun and helpful. I was hooked!
So many of the faces have changed but the love for the frostbite pull and everything that goes with it has seemed to stay the same.
Fish on

Awesome Vintage fishing report Todd, from a time when there was no such thing as the internet. Believe it or not though, I have memories of that piece of the lake from back then as well.
I was 7 years old, and only fished occasionally for panfish with worms. My Mom and Dad had just finished their first boating season with their brand new 1986 Chris Craft Scorpion 232, that looked just like this one.
They kept it on a mooring between garden(er) island and long point, right in front of the little empty island to the north of the one with a green cottage on it at the mouth of Lewis Creek. They used to hang out with some Vergennes people back then, a couple of them moored right nearby. Clem Bourgone, Jerry and JoAnn Mullen. Other names from that place in time were Ed and Jazzy Monniere, Eddie and Irline Smith and others.
I know we've lost a couple of those people over the years. Today I live across the street from Eddie's sister.
We used to launch the 14' aluminum boat at Lewis Creek to get out to the "big" boat. I remember coming back from a trip once, and the car next to our yellow 1981 Ford Escort like this one,
had been burned to the ground. Another time another car was spray painted all over with rattle cans. Never touched this car. Lots of tire fires at that access back then. Quite a throwback Todd, funny I can still remember all of that stuff.
