Thanks Reelax and Jason! Saturday Nov 5
With the Shoot Out scratched, several boats ran anyway. I was aboard Reelax with Matt and Jason. Saw Homewrecker and Jim at launch. We waited for a bit of light with a plan to cross to Whallon's, not knowing what the conditions may be. Soon we realized all 3 of us on Reelex were without our phones, and Matt's coffee was left in the truck at launch! It was readily manageable. Set up and had 4 quick fish, all lakers. The wind laid down as we crisscrossed Whallons' in about 140 feet. Conditions became almost too glassy as the sun came up. We decided to make a move and headed south with the improving conditions. It was great to have Thorny, Instigator and others on the water and the radio. We passed the Mansion and Diamond Island looking for bait, but it was scattered so we didn't set. John reported good bait of Mansion but couldn't get anything to fire. We watched as his awesome boat ran south! We headed further south trolling the abyss to the NY side but staying in deeper water. Soon rods were popping, as soon as the grill was set. It wasn't even 10 yet, and the tenderloin was still marinating. Then I had a double, with our first salmon on the cheater and laker below. We handled both carefully and made good releases. Reset and then another double salmon/laker. At least we were finding chrome. It was a pretty steady pick and the counter increased as we ate. As we passed Barn Rock, the wind and swell started to increase. We made the turn back North, fishing with the swell on our stern, but stayed outside in the deeper water making S turns. At 2 We made the call for 30 more minutes, and quickly landed 2 more, a salmon and a laker. JAson got his first double. Sitting at 18 on the counter, and blessed with conditions that were far batter than expected, we picked up at 2:30, landing two more as we cleared lines. Ended the day with the counter at 20, 6 salmon and 14 lakers. For a day predicted to have been brutal, you should have been there! Joined John's grill at the launch with the remaining rack of ribs, broke Reelax down and put her away for the tow home, and called it a day. Depths: Started high with 2 colors then deeper as sun came out. Most of our fish were 35-60 down, but the salmon were in the 30-45 range. Spoons? Minkler, Army Truck, SGM and Blue Moon, among others. A small watermelon E-Chip dodger helped the salmon count! Slide Divers fired too! Thanks REELAX and Jason, Great Day! Sorry, No phones, so now cameras and no pics.

Great report Scott! Lots of detail! It was 77F in Springfield Mass. yesterday. Shorts and t shirt weather as the girls Western New England soccer team won 3-0 at home to win their conference title and move on to the regionals. Watched the girls hockey opener Friday night.

: Thanks for jumping on Scott. Turned out to be one of the most enjoyable days on the lake of the season. Lots to look forward to as there is much more frostbite fishing to go! I predict the end of ‘22 and beginning of ‘23 to be a year we can fish every weekend right thru the cold:)
Great to see everyone out yesterday with all that made it…
Only pics I have are the of the 7layer dip we had aboard and at the launch and a pic of John’s new Controlled Caos that sped by a couple times today at 70
Still didn’t get a ride yet
Fish on!

What a fantastic day, Scott said it all! We started out off Thompson 25’ SGM seemed to fire constantly, lots of lakers and only 2 small salmon so I asked rylan (my son) If we should run south and try the mansion and he lite rite up
Yes dad let’s go for a good rip! So we did! Lots of bait no takers so we flew down to barber and made two passes, no takers no chasers. We worked all the way back to Essex running and gunning but no fish, set up in Essex just north of cannon in 100 fow and couldn’t keep the lakers off so we flew over to Thompson, set one riggers at 25 and one at 85’ .. salmon started hammering on copper and pearl taped honeybees. All in all we did ok and headed back to landing to set up grill and cook up some brats and dogs, then reelax crew came in and we had a good time cooking and telling the days events, I only have a few pics to share as I am terrible with taking pics lol! Great to see the fleet out and great to see good friends and share stories thanks for the ribs scott and thsnks got the seven layer dip Matt, please thank T for me. It’s definitely my favorite dip!

I will say the lakers and salmon sure are tasty when smoked! Here’s the three we kept from Saturdays adventure on champy! Smoked up really nice, and tasty!

Kicking myself for not heading out.
Looks like a Great day on the H2O!
Thanks for the detailed breakdown of your trip!
Looking forward to the wind dying down and chasing those feisty Salmon.
Great to hear these success stories. Very encouraging!
