Outboard Maintenance

I hope I don't open up a can of worms here.
I thought I would get ahead of ordering items needed for end of year maintenance. While I am ordering OEM (Quicksilver) oil, gear oil, etc, I am taken back by the price of the Quicksilver # 8M0122423 Fuel filter of almost 50 bucks. Has anyone found the real manufacturer of this as I doubt Mercury makes it?
Has anyone used another brand with no issues for a period of time ?
Am I being penny wise and pound foolish ?
