Lakers still all over off colchester reef

Post by Big Bear »

Out for a bit after work and my 15yo got got his Laker PB at 27” and 8lbs! Went 5 for 9. Hitting stacked downriggers between 26 and 42’ and any spoon I put out. Not much showing up on sonar at those depths, a lot down at 75’ but nothing hit down there. Still no salmon. Going to try running faster 2.8-3mph when I am out this weekend, was mostly running around 2.5 today. Surface temps around 69 degrees.

Do you have temp at that depth? Last time out it was very warm water in the top 50’ which is out of Lake Trout preferences. Interesting to me as our graph showed similar depths of no action. Just never tried in the warmer water.

No I am old school and do my best to see thermocline with the fish finder playing with sensitivity. No fishhawk for me! I could not find it yesterday but with surface temps at 69 degrees I guessed around 30-35’ so just ran a variety of depths and lures above, below and at that depth. Further down meant worse fleas so this seemed to work out.
