Great Laker bite
Great Laker bite
Did better today than yesterday, starting with a new net… Caught lots of lakers off colchester reef and even had doubles which was entertaining being solo. They were hitting from 18’-44’ in 70-140 FOW and hit cheaters and main cannonball line. And I wasn’t really early 10:30am-12:30pm Could not find a salmon, but one of the lakers was a wild one. We were going to eat him, but let him go. 20”, 2.5lbs and no lamprey marks. About half the ones I caught were free of lamprey marks and none had recent ones.

Re: Great Laker bite
Took a trip up that way on Sunday. Mostly cruising -- ran across outer Mallett's, through the fill, north through the Gut, and had lunch in North Hero.
On the way back, the Admiral humored me and I was able to troll the humps off Providence for about 25 minutes. Pulled the hook on a nice fish and landed one respectable laker. That fish was on a CI SGM down 45.
Fleas were pretty bad -- will be my last trip up there until the fall.
Will try to squeeze another trolling trip in this week south of Converse. Then, it's on to other species.
