A friend who recently caught a 9lb pike reported it had 3 lamprey wounds on it. Caught in Mallettes bay. Any warmwater fisherman had lamprey wounds on their pike, walleye, bass, etc?

Is your friend SURE that they are lamprey wounds? Frequently, pike exhibit sores that could be mistaken for lamprey wounds. There are two different things that cause these - lymphosarcoma and red sore. Pike also often exhibit open sores from spawning activity.

I have caught a few with lamprey scars. Not normal because of their tough skin
