Inland Sea 4/11

Post by dbrooker »

Took advantage of the nice evening to run up to sandbar launch. Lines in around 5:30pm, flat-lined pins Georgia Shore and Keeler for a couple hours with no luck. 42.5 surface water temp was the warmest found, but lots of debris and hard to keep lines clean.

Just before dusk I went to one of my favorite spots to cast a few before heading in. Went with the fishy1 special, rainbow krocodile, and found this 5lber chasing bait. Great night regardless, but she was the icing.

Surprisingly quiet at the launch, but I suppose that’ll change in a week or two.

That's a beauty! Congrats! I must have gotten off the water just about the time you got there. I fished from about 2 - 5 or so. Keeler's and the corner in front of Sandbar beach. The beach / corner was a mess. I did manage a 17" silver, though, so it wasn't a bad maiden voyage for the year. Better days are coming!

EDIT : Now that I look at your pics, I recognize your boat. You were just pulling away from the launch as I was pulling in.

Thanks Crayfish! A real diamond for sure. I’ve fished that corner a few times and never had much luck, must be doing it wrong!

I was there yesterday morning until noon. Picked up 2 silvers before heading home. Tried many different lures until we got our hits on crazy Ivans.
Sausage gravy is always my favorite when fish are not very active.

After 2 years and a rough start because if engine issues on a boat stored in the Us that has not run in 2 years i finally managed a test run this pm. Headed out and started fishing around 2:00. Did the first two pass in the bay to pick up 2 12 inch browns ( brown trout stick bait and white russian) that went back to grow. On the third pass around switched to lead core and crazy ivan ( white russian and twin city)lure that i bought 2 years ago and doubled on silvers. Thunder and lightning started i headed home asap.. hopefully can get the kids on some fish in the am.

The most promising thing about your post is the BROWN…. it’s been way too many months since we have boated one…

Glad and surprised after 2 years sitting your boat ran well as it did…

Thanks for sharing… things are really looking up. Looking forward to a 6am launch Friday to chase that Brown’s brother. Can’t wait!
