Converse Float Jan 13, 2022

Post by Surprise »

After a brief huddle with Ron & Carl we decided that today would give us a window to get in a float before the forecasted deep freeze sets in.

We assembled at Converse at the Old Guy Frostbiter time of 9:30. Fathead and his partner were already out and had cleared the sheet ice and cleaned the ramp.

We splashed the boat and motored over to Wallons in calm seas to set up. We Yacked with Jeremy who was down by the Ball grabber letting us know he was boating Lakers and small salmon.

We ran a spread of 2 side planers with 5/8 oz beadchains with Challangers , 2 leadcore rods 1- 2 color and 1- 5 color with spoons and then 2- riggers 30 and 40 with fixed cheaters 5 ft above running spoons. We started our circuit picking at mostly lakers with a couple larger 5-6 lb spawned out females.
The take of our silver today was 15 inchers. We had about 25 takes with 15-18 landed.

Lunch today was Spicy Tomato Soup, Caribbean Jerk Chicken wraps with Avocado, Mango and Lime dressing Coleslaw. Finished with some of Kathy's Oatmeal raisin cookies.

It was a great day to share and a lot of fun. Hope to get out again after the freeze of this coming week.

Possibly our last fishing trip of the season going back to early March of last year before the big extended freeze begins tonight that might lock up the bay for awhile! I have fished on Randy's boat 5 times in the last 2 weeks with great weather / friends / great lunches! You Tube video of yesterday's adventure from 10:30 am -3:30 pm.

Nice seeing you out there Randy nice post !!! Luke and I were out on the Clocked Out at first light we had all salmon for first 2 hours then the lake trout moved in so we moved and found some more salmon. Nothing of any size today we had one salmon that was just over 18 inches. A few football smaller salmon which was nice to see. Leadcore was hot with 2 1/2 colors and a Crazy Ivan Sapphire. Riggers we’re good as well anywheres from 12-30 down. We ended up with 17 salmon and over 30 lake trout. Fun day on the water and the bay is locked up some now so who knows if that was the end of it or not. Fish On !!!!
