Frostbite Shootout 2021 Report

Post by Surprise »

The 2021 Frostbite Shootout is Back

After a 2019 Covid break we were able to again assemble as "The Fleet" and kick off the Season of fun about to unfold this year. We caught some rather nice fish up and down the lake this year. The hatchery reports of the quality of fish point out the ongoing success of the Lamprey Program. It was really Great to see the everyone out enjoying a day of fishing together.

A Big Thanks To Point Bay for hosting us again. Bill Lowell, Al Morehouse for manning Weights & Measures Ron Winter as Secretary Keeper of Records and Videographer of the Days Event. They make a wonderful Team. Thanks to all that attended and provided fine food to share.

The weather was beautiful and thanks to everyone for coming to and making the Barbecue such a delicious success. It is Great to break bread, laugh it up sharing stories with new and old acquaintances. It truly is a life event highlight of the year. Thank You for sharing the day.

First order of business is to announce the induction of two of our members to the Rank of Honorary Admiral of the Fleet.

Jim Martino "Tamiron" and Matt Glebus "Fishy1"

Both these people exemplify what good people and great fishermen are about. The sharing of their wealth of knowledge to anyone promoting success to other fishermen in our beloved sport cannot be expressed in thanks owed. The contributions of posts on this website are available to any and all to go out and make it a "Good" day. From Myself and everyone here we say
Thank You!

On to the report of the day:

It was a beautiful day for sure and after the morning fishing at the weigh-in we had one fish on the board and scale ....so much for drama. We have a 2021 Frostbite Fleet Shootout Winner!

Tom Durbrow of Underhill Center, Vermont
23 1/2 inch 5lb 6.5 ounce

Congratulations Tom ! Your name will be added to those before you as a Trophy Winner!

I will update here later the details as I get them from Tom

Here are pictures of the day:

Randy, special thanks for putting this event on again this year. The amount of boats out today and the excellent food and company at the BBQ shows our frostbite fleet is alive and strong, even after a year off due to covid…

Even though we didn’t hammer the salmon today, it was one of the most enjoyable days on the lake this year.

Matt Glebus-Fishy1, and Jim Martino-Tamiron, we want you to know how much all of us have appreciated your contributions over the years. Thanks for helping so many fishermen have more success and fun chasing cold water fish. Our thoughts were deeply with both of you today, all our best. We look forward to more learning from both of your vast experiences. :ugeek:

Congrats Tommy
, what a way to break in that new Lund with a 2021 win 🥇 n the shootout. Couldn’t have happened to a more deserving boat! :D

Nice well done report Randy and an awesome day! Thanks Matt for all the photos you took! Great seeing everyone! Way to go Tommy with a beautiful clean fish! Nice to see the admirals recognized! All in all a fantastic day. Yes the salmon bite today was nearly non-existent but some days are like that! We had a beautiful day to fish and celebrate another year!

A big thank you to all who helped put on another event. You guys did a great job as usual. Captain Kirk and I (Ancient Mariner) had a really fun day. It's an annual event that we look forward to each year. Nice to meet so many fun people and enjoy the BBQ. Thanks again and look forward to next year.

Another fine event Randy...thanks for doing what you do to promote this fun fishery and the camaraderie that goes along with it.
Congratulations on a fine catch for the win Tom. Very nice!
My thoughts go out to the newly appointed Admirals of the Frostbite Crew....Jim Martino "Tamiron" and Matt Glebus "Fishy1". I will forever be grateful for your love of sharing, teaching, and friendship. Thank you both..from the bottom of my heart.

Fish on and sorry I didn't make the event. I believe that was my first miss and hopefully the last.
Catch and serve with lemon.

Always a pleasure to be in the company of some of the best anglers on the lake chasing the fish we love to catch. It was a tough bite for the Salmon they must still be recovering from Covid-19. Congratulations to Tom and Fred on the win, they have been pounding this lake for decades and it’s a well deserved win. Congratulations and best wishes to Jim And Matt for they have and will continue to give all to the sport they love. Thanks Randy and his team for another successful event and thanks to Stewart my partner for coming out of the woods and joining the adventure. And finally to all that would venture out on the lake this time of year Saftey first and Fish On!
