Treble vs Single hooks for salmon

Post by Papatom »

A lot of the spoons today have single hooks. Not long ago spoons always had treble hooks.
Any opinions on which is better and why. I use both and haven't seen a advantage either way except less net tangles with the single hooks.
I also sometimes use a small swivel between spoon and hook. Anyone doing this especially with lake trout?
Thanks!!!

Both work, both have advantages and disadvantages. With the damage done buy trebles to salmons soft mouths I use mostly single hooks and very few trebles.

Also much easier to keep one single hook sharp which is the most important factor to me...

I was given a bunch of Stinger and Speedy Shiner spoons. All of them came with trebles. My question is what single hook would you recommend as replacements?
