Converse Monday with first time guest Fishy 1

Post by digitroll (ron) »

I will let Matt fill in the blanks. One of the top 5 days of 2018 for silver. Oh ask him about the banana I snuck aboard!

Should be a great Shoot-Out:

That probably would have been an 8 Lber if it wasn't for the Banana.

what a fun day today was with ron (digitroll) the action was fast and furious and confusion at time which rod to grab. the lure you called ugly lure topped off to be the lure of the day and you were right it was ugly.    but caught fish. the lakers were small today but the salmon have been eating well very chunky. thanks also for showing me some good spots to go with my angler 8 boat. sorry that you lost a probe today when we were busy and not paying attention. just as we got hung up saw a good size salmon bust water thought it was on one of our rods for a minute.. looking forward to heading out tommorrow with you and your short window. lost track fo everything but we had at least 30 or so hits and landed at least 20 plus salmon and lakers .

Well, well, looks like banana might be the lucky charm ;)
Quantity of bites is inspiring for the coming shootout.

Ouch in the probe. It is shallow for an easy recovery?

30 fow. Only second one hung and lost in 37 years. Lucky I had a spare to snap on in the glove box and we were good after 20 minutes. I always recommend carrying a spare.

Did I read earlier this summer someone stuck a probe off Appletree point near Burlington and they were able to get a diver to retrieve it read here on the forum? Maybe Keith87?

Yeah it was me earlier this year out front of shelburne. I hung up on one of the wrecks, and got insanely lucky, a few days later a dive group found it and one of the forum members happened to know someone on the dive who had sent a picture to him asking what they had found. I didn’t hire the diver, just lucked out. That said there is a big dive community on the lake. 802fishtail who is a forum member is a certified diver.

The banana was eaten long before the probe was hung! The probe was an offering for the salmon gods!

Way to go! Hopefully the bite will be on for the Shootout.

We started later than you - around 11. Lake was calm so we headed south. We picked up three salmon from the mouth of Otter Creek south. None good sized. Then we crossed the lake to fish a spot near Westport where we had found small salmon and browns earlier in the season. What we got was a multi-species catch: one whitefish, one laker, one white perch, and a perch. Our riggers were set deeper than yours - one at 42' and the other around 50'. Maybe go shallower on Saturday.

One more short trip out today with Matty! Much slower today after the cold front crashed the party overnight. Sloppy cold north wind made it challenging with 37F air temps and windchills in the 20's. We worked for them today going 12/15. 6 LT and 6 Salmon. Lost a nice salmon that would've been a shoot out weighable fish. Left a really hot bite at 12:30 as I had to get my son at school for early release day on Tuesdays. 45 bites in two days was very encouraging! 5 hours yesterday and 4 hours today. Not bad for 9 hours of fishing. Now off the water until the Shoot-Out. Good luck all!
