I've read that some folks on Lake Ontario are using a paint stirrer stick with a piece of male Velcro tape (hooks) on one side to get fleas off of braided line. You pull the line taut and rake across the flea globs with the Velcro.

It's been bad to the point that I'm not fishing until they're gone for the year.

The 30 lb Mono and leader works awesome and the 30 lb wire for Lite Bites a close second. The fleas are not going to win!

Was out today for a little while and the fleas weren't quite as bad as last week. This new kind don't seem to shake off as easy as the old kind though. I just hold my thumbnail against the spool and scrape them off as they come in.

Are the fleas still an issue?

It's been 10 days since I was last out. Today the fleas were 90% better. Didn't put any braid in the water though. But testing the one 12 lb mono light rod was just about flea free. No balls of crap. Water temp. 59F in the same areas I have been fishing the last month on the main lake.
